Oshkosh Country Club, 1 mile south on Highway 27, is a well-kept, nine-hole golf course located near the North Platte River. Beautiful scenery abounds and occasionally wildlife can be observed. The par 36 hole course will test every golfer. League activities prevail during the summer weekdays, including men's, women's, and couples. Green fees are minimal for the non-members who want to enjoy this beautiful view and secluded course. For more information, call (308) 772-3881.
The Oshkosh Swimming Pool, 200 East 1st, provides free swimming in a heated pool. The pool has two 1-meter diving boards, a wading pool for pre-school children and three lifeguards on duty. The pool is open from 1-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. daily during the summer. A wide variety of swimming and lifesaving lessons are available also.
The Oshkosh Ballpark, 800 West 2nd, is host to many baseball and softball programs throughout the summer, including PeeWee, Co-ed T-Ball, Little League, Babe Ruth, Young Girls and Girls Softball. An outstanding July 4th celebration concludes with baseball, kids' races, and a fireworks display at the ballpark. Lighted tennis courts and a basketball court are available at the ballpark.
Crescent Lake National Wildlife Refuge is part of a nationwide system established for the preservation of waterfowl. The 46,600-acre refuge is approximately 27 miles north of Oshkosh. Wildlife found on the refuge include Canada geese, snow geese and most species of ducks. Upland birds, including grouse and pheasants, are abundant. Prairie chicken, deer, antelope, coyotes, raccoons, badgers, owls and golden eagles are also included on the refuge. This refuge is ranked second in the nation for birding.
